Optimal Temperature: Nest 21-26°C | Outworld 18-28°C

Humidity: Nest 30-50% | Outworld 40-60%

Hibernation: Not needed, will naturally slow down but will not stop laying.

Diet: Water. Carbohydrates such as honey and other sweet foods like Ant Park Strawberry Sunrise Ant Nectar. Will also eat seeds, such as Ant Park Foraging Mix. Ant Park All-in-One Ant Food, Ant Park Complete Ant food Gel or other sources of protein and insects are needed to grow their larvae. Honestly, these girls are so hungry there isn't much they won't eat!

Colony: Monogyne (one queen per colony). Average 100,000 workers per colony.

Founding Queen: Fully Claustral (without feeding)

Sizes: Queen 12mm-15mm | Worker 6mm-10mm

Bite/Sting/Formic Acid: Can have a nasty bite. Handle with care

Difficulty: Advanced

Description: Meat ants are incredible builders and will build mounds of up to 30cm tall. They are often called meat ants because farmers often use them to eat and dispose of dead animals including cows! They are a fun and very active species but are only recommended for advanced keepers due to the extreme size and high levels of activity they can reach.
